چکیده

The coconut Rhinoceros beetle (Oryctes rhinoceros) is one of the most damaging insect to coconut palms in India. The experimental study on the growth response of 3 instar larvae of Oryctes rhinoceros infesting the coconut trees. The LC50/96 hours value for the larvae of Oryctes rhinoceros were 29.5% for neem cake powder, 24.5% for neem oil and 14.9% for distillery effluent respectively. In the present study, it was observed that the entire larval growth was affected with this bio-pesticides and distillery effluent irrespective of its experimental concentrations. The reduced weight of the larval forms exposed to different concentrations of bio-pesticides and distillery effluent were clear indication of their deterrent activity and they totally affect the larval growth, since no one was undergone pupation. Even mortality occurred at the midst of this experimental duration in higher concentration. The overall data indicated that the distillery effluent caused antifeedent activity ultimately leading to deterrant activity, of larval forms.

Bioremediation and decolorization of Distillery effluent by novel Microbial Consortium

Distillery effluent is perilous and hazardous to human race by polluting the water bodies and soil. In whole world every year the total production of distillery products is less then the production of distillery effluents. And due to this the ecological balance continuously disturbing and the food web and food chain of organism also ill effected with the toxic pollutants released from distiller...

Phenolic composition and radical scavenging activity of sweetpotato-derived shochu distillery by-products treated with koji.

Phenolic composition and radical scavenging activity in the shochu distillery by-products of sweetpotato (Ipomoea batatas L.) treated with koji (Aspergillus awamori mut.) and cellulase (Cellulosin T2) were investigated to develop new uses. Koji and Cellulosin T2 treatment of shochu distillery by-products from sweetpotatoes, rice, and barley increased phenolic content. Caffeic acid was identifie...

Characterisation of manganese peroxidase and laccase producing bacteria capable for degradation of sucrose glutamic acid-Maillard reaction products at different nutritional and environmental conditions

Maillard reactions products (MRPs) are a major colorant of distillery effluent. It is major source of environmental pollution due to its complex structure and recalcitrant nature. This study has revealed that sucrose glutamic acid-Maillard reaction products (SGA-MRPs) showed many absorption peaks between 200 and 450 nm. The absorption maximum peak was noted at 250 nm in spectrophotometric detec...

Novel application of Shochu distillery by-products to prophylaxis against mammary carcinogenesis induced by 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene in rats.

The effect of the heat-dried product of Shochu distillery by-products (HSDB) derived from sweet potato on mammary carcinogenesis in rats was investigated. HSDB was fed at 2.5% or 5% of the total feed weight. Dietary HSDB at the 5% level suppressed the incidence and number of tumors, and delayed the latency of mammary tumor development relative to the control diet. Experiments were conducted to ...
